BONSAI offers four types of mold testing services:
Home Inspection Mold Assessment:
A popular service available only as an add-on to a basic Home Inspection, a Mold Assessment consists of: A non-invasive, visual inspection of the home's readily accessible areas for suspected mold, and conditions that may indicate the presence of mold, or support the growth of mold. A Mold Assessment is an efficient and highly economical method to give your prospective new home a basic evaluation for visible mold and mold related warning signs, so they can be effectively dealt with prior to purchase. With every Mold Assessment, you receive an additional report detailing the findings immediately, on-site, at the conclusion of your Inspection, plus a 12-page full color handout filled with information regarding mold identification, prevention, and basic cleanup.
Mold is specifically excluded by the Massachusetts Standards of Practice for Home Inspection! That means that if you choose a Home Inspector that is not trained or certified in Mold Investigation, it will likely not be included in your Home Inspection. Why risk leaving this potentially critical aspect to the unknown, or risk losing your purchase? Get it all done at once! A Mold Assessment can be added to any Home Inspection starting at $75.
Limited Mold Screening:
Designed for the home or commercial property owner who has a visible problem or concern about specific area(s) in their property, the objective of a Limited Mold Screen is to determine whether mold problems do or do not exist in these designated area(s). A Limited Mold Screen consists of: A non-invasive, visual assessment for mold problems in the specific area(s) designated by you, and if necessary or desired, optional collection of samples for laboratory analysis. If sampling is performed, you will be provided with a written and/or e-mail Sample Analysis Report from the Lab identifying: Types and levels of molds read in samples along with sample locations; a description of each type of mold discovered; and a summary of findings. If mold problem(s) are found, you may purchase a Formal Report documenting these conditions with high-resolution digital photography, and providing corrective actions. Optional, limited invasive inspection is also available.
Pricing starts at $150.
Home Survey/Mold Screen:
Designed for the homeowner looking for an overall assessment of a property for mold and mold-related risks, a Mold Screen consists of: A non-invasive, visual assessment of readily accessible locations of the entire property (inside and exterior) for visible mold, and conditions that may indicate the presence of mold, or support the growth of mold, plus a full-color report documenting any problem or risk areas, plus corrective actions. Reports include digital photography and are computer-generated using ESA's (Environmental Solutions Association) professional mold reporting software. You also receive a 12-page full color handout filled with information regarding mold identification, prevention, and basic cleanup. If problem areas are detected, you may further opt for collection of samples for laboratory analysis. If sampling is performed, you will be provided with a written and/or e-mail Sample Analysis Report from the Lab identifying: Types and levels of molds read in samples along with sample locations; a description of each type of mold discovered; and a summary of findings.

Post-Cleaning Evaluation:

Post-Cleaning Evaluation consists of: A non-invasive, visual assessment for mold problems in the specific remediated area(s) designated by you, and collection of an appropriate number of samples for laboratory analysis. You will be provided with a Sample Analysis Report from the Lab with a summary of findings indicating if the mold problem that existed before the work began is no longer a mold problem. If desired, BONSAI can issue you an e-mail/written letter of clearance indicating cleanup was performed according to industry standards, or, if efforts are not successful, specifications for additional clean up. BONSAI will work with you until clean-up efforts are completed successsfully.
